Florida becomes the latest state to ban critical race theory in classrooms amongst others.

Florida becomes the latest state to legally erase true American history. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida State Board of Education unanimously approved the Amendment. This prohibits learning material from the 1619 slave project, Holocaust, the Civil War and Reconstruction Era along with much more.

Although Florida has the largest public school system to fall in line with the new amendment, they are not alone. Idaho’s House Bill 377 bans instructors from teaching "individuals, by virtue of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin, are inherently responsible for actions committed in the past by other members of the same sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin."

Texas also passed legislation that bans schools from requiring teaching or discussions of essential current and historical events. Furthermore, representatives in the state of Oklahoma officially approved the bill regarding critical race theory (House Bill 1775) on the centennial memorial of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

Lawmakers in over several states have proposed some sort of bill that either completely eliminates or reform the way teachers speak about historical events regarding race. Many of the proposals include the prohibition of discussing the 1619 slave project.

If you agree or disagree with bills proposed in your state, let this be a reminder to vote and be sure of who you are selecting to make decisions for your city, town and state.
