Love, Hurts and Winning Heals All

Not the best coach, not the best Quarterback? The Eagles are the best team in football.

Fly, Eagles, Fly! I was rooting for the 3-Peat; however, Philly played their best football. Coming off the domination of the Kansas City Chiefs, the 2023-2024 Philidelphia Eagles overcame a narrative of dysfunction that had America fooled. When I look under the hood, I see an engine built to last and a driver that's always on the right track. Head Coach Nick Sirianni and QB Jalen Hurts are two individuals who understand football in its purest form as players. Their pedigree is obvious, Sirianni played and coached under the Mount Union football program (Division III), who’s 13 National Titles speak for themselves. Jalen Hurts, son of a coach and player for the single greatest coach in the history of football, Nick Saban. The understanding of what it takes from every part of the program is something that’s not easily replicated. Numbers are nice, Championships are what all 32 are playing for.
Playing the “Ultimate Team Game” at its highest level requires one important component, unselfishness. Sirianni instilled this narrative within the team, and it paid dividends. Also, The action of playing for each other and celebrating accomplishments of the man next to you is the true essence of any winning team. As a student of the game of football, I believe it has become too analytical. Not only X’s and O’s, but Jimmy’s and Joes are being placed to the side in favor of percentages. The level of dominance displayed in the biggest game every single season can only be achieved by a team on one accord with all phases, one group determined to complete the same mission.

Life doesn’t revolve around sports; however, sports can mirror every day of life. Working as a team, understanding the personnel assigned to your mission, and establishing a plan for success. In a league enamored with "who is the best player", or "you need to be the best at the quarterback", the only thing worth having is the Lombardi Trophy. Sirianni and his Eagles winning is great for the NFL, a redemption unlike any other. Saquon playing at an elite level after being deemed invaluable by a division rival, Hurts continuously being overlooked and underrated only to come out victorious, a dominant defense overcoming generational offensive play calling, and an “emotional, problem child” head coach who loves football as much as anybody on this planet. Run the football and play defense, the sport of football in its purest form. Suffering from the NFL withdrawals we enter draft season, yet I can’t wait to see how high the Eagles will soar next season.
