The Los Angeles Lakers sit second in the Western Conference for right now, but their future looks even brighter in the NBA.

Primed for a strong playoff run the Los Angeles Lakers are fueled by the Greatest Player of All Time, a Slovenian Superstar, and a first-year Head Coach looking to prove he’s more than a Podcaster. A trade that shook the NBA, completely rocked the world of the Lakers faithful. The implications behind the trade of the Mavericks questioning the work ethic of Luka Doncic sent him in with a chip on his shoulder, basketball savant LeBron James welcomed him with open arms and a wealth of basketball knowledge.
The most interesting layer of LeBron and his existence in the NBA is his love for the game. Aside from being the league’s all-time leading scorer I’d say Lebron is one of the biggest basketball fans in the world. The strategy of the game, the greatness of other players, and the ability to create generational wealth for his family playing a game that he loves with his entire being. Being the greatest is a full-time job, being held to the standard of the greatest even as you grow older comes with its challenges. Though it’s a small sample size, LeBron is playing a joyful brand of basketball, and for the remainder of this article I’m going to explain what this means for the NBA.

Head Coach J.J. Redick and Lebron James co-hosted a podcast titled “Mind of The Game” where they discussed the strategies of basketball which make the game simple and easy. Known to be a ball-dominant player and key initiator throughout his career Luka allows LeBron to truly hand over the keys to the offense. Instead, he’s been taking the role of being the first man up court after a rebound, setting screens for the short roll to survey the defense, and even playing the corner for backdoor cuts and open looks from three. While visually playing a lesser role, LeBron is able to make a larger impact on the game because he isn’t the sole conductor of the Lakers offense, and it allows him more flexibility on defense to switch and make plays leading to easy transition scores.
A new era for LeBron causes him to do less and help more which does wonders for the longevity of his already historic career. Having a one-man wrecking crew named Luka Doncic allows him to not press as much while the team continues to thrive. Already an ageless wonder only the good Lord knows when he’ll hang it up, but playing with one of the world’s best players makes the game easy and enjoyable. I’m convinced LeBron can play until he’s 50, and with another son coming up through the ranks, I believe his career received an extension and he’ll further cement his unbreakable records.
